CSA SUBSCRIPTON INFORMATION

Benefits of signing up!

1. You don't have to pick them yourself if you are too busy but want the farm fresh berries!
2. Peace of mind knowing you get some beautiful berries every week and get to try every variety of berry.
3. When you buy from us you are supporting local farms!
4. Conveniently located right off Nehalem Hwy 47 between Banks and Forest Grove
5. We don't require you to volunteer any hours at the farm.

THE BASICS

• Please note this year's CSA is 6 weeks of berries.
• Each week you get a half-flat box of berries weighing about 5lbs.
• We rotate through blackberry, marionberry and blueberry, with majority being blueberry.
• First week starts in Late June or Early July, then goes every week

ADD-ONS

These are optional items you can bundle with your Berry CSA

• 6 Weeks of Jam/Jelly a new flavor each week during normal CSA weeks
• 2 Weeks of Peaches, added to end of 6-week program. Each week is a half flat box weighing about 5-6 lbs.
• 2 or 3 weeks of Strawberries, this is whenever they become ripe at end of Spring or beginning of summer. Each week will be a half-flat box.
• More add-on options available, inquire if you are interested.
  

PICKUP OPTIONS

This year we DO NOT have Miget's for a pickup location.

• Currently all pickups will need to be on Wednesday/Thursday/Friday
• Please arrive during business hours
• If we can work it out, we will add some new pickup options or delivery options.  Reach out if you need assistance or can help us with finding a new pickup location.

WHAT ELSE WILL WE DO FOR YOU!
Our wish is that you will find our farm to be a special place for you to feel connected to and enjoy.
We want you to be incredibly happy with your decision to join our CSA and be a part of this farm community.  

A. In return we, the farmers, promise to do our best to provide a full share every week of the growing season, using thoughtful and comprehensive land stewardship and growing practices.  We want to provide you with delicious, healthy, and abundant berries. If at any time you are not completely satisfied, please reach out to us at any time to get the issue resolved.

B. Products that will be included in a traditional share.  We grow blueberries, blackberries, marionberries and strawberries ongoingly.  While we may offer other products from time to time, they will come from other farms and are considered an “add-on” item to your weekly share. The specific varieties we grow are Berkeley, Bluecrop, Legacy, Kotata Blackberry, Marionberry, Black Diamond Blackberry, and varying strawberry varieties.

C.  You will receive your share in a cardboard box and pint baskets, we ask that you help us by recycling this box in your home recycling or if it is in good condition we can reuse it the following week if you return it when you pick up your next share. The green pint baskets are compostable or recyclable.

E. We plan to have all berries picked by 11am, however you are welcome to arrive early if you need to and see if it is ready.  At that time, you are also welcome to visit our “stand” offerings, ask questions or get a short tour as time allows. 

F. Generally, there are no weather cancellations, but if something does happen, we will notify you by email and/or text ASAP to reschedule your pickup day or location.

G. Every week on Sunday you will get email communications about the weeks berry and pickup options.  We may try communicating by text message if something is more urgent or there is a mid-week problem.  We appreciate you taking the time read these communications and respond in a timely manner. You can also reach out to us any time with questions or information in regard to implementing of your CSA specifically.

2024 CSA Agreement with Vance Family Farm
We know it is a commitment to become a CSA Member. We appreciate your decision to prioritize healthy, seasonal and local farmers. We are very much committed to you too. 
This CSA Agreement is intended to help us discuss the details and give you an opportunity for us to talk through any questions you might have about our CSA subscription. 

1. I am buying a weekly portion of the farm’s harvest in advance via their online shop and completing the checkout process. Then I am entering into a relationship with Vance Family Farms aka Tom’s Berry Patch for the duration of the 2024 CSA season.  I understand that my investment before the beginning of the season directly supports the farm in preparation for the 2024 season. 

2. By purchasing a CSA Share for 2024, I agree to accept the risks and rewards inherent to farming. I understand that Vance Family Farms (and Tom’s Berry Patch) will work in good faith to produce the best possible crop using sustainable growing methods, but I also understand that crops may be damaged by natural forces beyond the farmer’s control, and that produce availability may be affected by such damage may be unrecoverable.

• Don’t worry, this occurrence has never happened before and we truly hope it does not, but we would do our best to make up the produce to you later or see what we can figure out to make things right for all of us. 

3. I understand it is my responsibility to pick up my share during one of the CSA distribution times each week from a pre-chosen day.  If I am unable to pick up my share, I will ask a friend or neighbor to collect my share for me. I also understand that if I don’t come on my scheduled day my berries will not be as fresh. If my share is not picked up by the end of the following day, it will need to be re-sold or discarded and I forfeit the share for that week.

• We would prefer you pick up while the stand is open to avoid complications but realize some of you need to come when you get off work.  If you need an evening option, please consider choosing Thursday for your share day of the week! We will be open (weather permitting) Tue/Wed/Fri 9:00-5:00, Thursday 9:00-8pm and Saturday 9:00-4:00

4. I understand that the farm workers do their absolute best to pick the “perfect” produce to put in the boxes and try not to include any items that are lower quality, however they are human and may make mistakes or overlook things. If there is anything that is questionable, I will be given the opportunity to make it right by providing me with another available item at no cost to me.
